1.Who we are

ABC Digital Downloads is a Shopify app that allows merchants to upload, host, and deliver digital files (PDFs, images, videos, audio, and other downloadable content) to customers who purchase digital products on their Shopify store.

Our website address is https://abcdigitaldownloads.com. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data responsibly and securely.

2.Data we collect

When you install and use ABC Digital Downloads, we collect your Shopify store URL, store owner name and contact email, file metadata (name, size, type), order information related to digital fulfillment, and download activity (customer email, IP, timestamp).

This information helps us deliver files securely, support file delivery performance, and provide basic analytics.

If you leave comments on our website, we collect the data shown in the comment form, along with your IP address and browser user-agent string for spam detection.

Avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) — that data can be extracted by others.

3.Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored in your browser. We use app session cookies to authenticate your app session, analytics cookies (Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity) to track website usage, and comment/login cookies to remember preferences for return visits.

You can disable cookies in your browser settings — doing so may affect the app's or website's performance.

4.Embedded content

Our website may include embedded content (videos, articles, images) from third-party websites. These external sites may collect data about you and use cookies. Their practices are governed by their own privacy policies.

5.Why we collect data

We collect data to securely deliver digital files to customers, monitor and improve app performance, provide customer support and troubleshoot issues, protect against abuse and fraud, and understand how users interact with our website and app.

6.Who we share data with

We do not sell or rent your personal or store data. Data may be shared with Shopify (for integration and authentication), analytics tools (Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity — web only), spam-detection services that protect comment forms, and authorized personnel for internal support and debugging.

We do not share or use merchant-uploaded files for any commercial or non-commercial purposes. See the File ownership section below.

7.Data retention

App data — order, file, and download data — is retained while your store has the app installed, or as needed to meet support and legal obligations.

When you uninstall ABC, we delete your store's app data and uploaded files — except anything we're legally required to retain. You can also request deletion at any time.

Comments are retained indefinitely to allow for ongoing moderation. Website account data is stored until you request deletion or close your account.

8.Your data rights

You may request an export of your personal data or deletion of your data (excluding data required by law or to support active services). To make a request, use the contact form on this site.

9.Where your data is processed

Some data may be processed or stored on servers outside your country. We use appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) to ensure data protection in accordance with international privacy laws.

10.Data security

We use encryption, access controls, and regular security audits to protect your data. While we take security seriously, no system is 100% immune from risk. We will notify affected parties in the event of a breach, as required by law.

11.Legal basis for processing

We rely on consent (for cookies or marketing opt-ins), contractual necessity (for delivering purchased files), legitimate interest (for fraud prevention and performance monitoring), and legal obligations (for tax, billing, and compliance).

12.Data breach response

If a data breach occurs, we will investigate and contain the issue, notify affected users within 72 hours if required, and explain what data was affected and how we're addressing it.

13.Third-party analytics

We use Google Analytics to track website behavior and Microsoft Clarity to record anonymized user sessions for usability improvements.

14.File ownership and confidentiality

All digital files you upload to ABC Digital Downloads remain your property. We will not access, view, share, copy, or use your uploaded content for any commercial or non-commercial purposes.

Files are only delivered to your customers based on the settings you configure within the app. Access to files is strictly limited to support staff in cases where intervention is necessary to provide technical assistance.
