Managing settings
Updated
Settings in ABC Digital Downloads holds the options that apply to all your orders: fulfillment and emails, where customers see their download links, download limits, your sender address, and your email and PDF templates.
To change a setting, go to Settings in ABC and make your change. When you click out of the field, Shopify's save bar appears at the top of the page with "Unsaved changes". Click Save to keep your changes, or Discard to undo them. If you try to leave the page before saving, you're asked to confirm first.
General settings
The General settings section covers:
- Date format: how dates appear in ABC. Choose from MM/DD/YYYY (the default), MM-DD-YYYY, DD/MM/YYYY, DD-MM-YYYY and YYYY-MM-DD.
- Time format: 12 hour (the default) or 24 hour.
- Automatically fulfill orders (on by default): ABC marks the items on an order that have files connected as fulfilled in Shopify.
- Send order emails (on by default): ABC emails customers their download links when they place an order. If you turn it off, customers can still get their files from the Thank you and Order status pages, if those options are on.
- Respect fulfillment holds (on by default): if an order's fulfillment is on hold in Shopify, ABC waits. It doesn't email the download links or fulfill the order until you release the hold.

Where customers see their download links
- Display download links on the Thank You page (on by default): shows the Files block, with the customer's download links, on the Thank you page after checkout.
- Display download links on the Order Status page (on by default): shows the same block on the Order status page.
Each page also needs ABC's block, which you add once in Shopify's checkout editor. See Getting started.

Download limits and fraud protection
For how these limits work and what customers see when one blocks a download, see Limit and restrict downloads. You can also change these limits for a single order, on the order's page. See Viewing orders.
Download limit
Available on the Essential, Professional and Plus plans (see Plans and billing).
Download Limit sets how many times a customer can download each file in an order. Leave it empty for unlimited downloads, which is the default. Streams don't count toward the limit.
IP limit
Available on the Professional and Plus plans.
IP Limit sets how many different IP addresses can download each file. Leave it empty for no limit, which is the default.
Billing country
Available on the Professional and Plus plans.
Tick Restrict downloads to the billing country to allow downloads only from the country in the order's billing address. Customers elsewhere see "This download has been restricted to the billing country for this order." It's off by default.
Fraudulent orders
Tick Block download emails for fraudulent orders to hold back the download email when Shopify recommends canceling or investigating an order. It's off by default.

Custom email settings
Available on the Professional and Plus plans.
Send your customer emails from your own address, such as downloads@yourstore.com: enter it in Email address, click Create, and add the DNS records ABC shows. See Setting up custom email settings (white-label emails).
Email templates
ABC sends customers three emails: Order Download Links, New file(s) added to order and File Update Notification. Under Email templates you can:
- edit an email's subject and design with Edit template, on the Professional and Plus plans;
- turn an email off or on with Disable email and Enable email, on every plan;
- translate your emails with Add language, on the Professional and Plus plans.
See Customizing email templates.
PDF templates
Available on the Essential, Professional and Plus plans.
PDF templates stamp text, such as the customer's name, email and order number, onto the PDFs customers download. Click Create Template to add one. Each saved template has Edit and Delete. See How to set up PDF stamping for your digital files.
